Morgan Motor Company

Don Booker MBE As Morgan Motor Company head for their second century, things have changed greatly since the three-wheelers of 1909 which attracted just as much attention as the super Aeromax.

Drivers either love or hate the Morgan car, but the majority are proud to know it is British and part of our heritage. The late Sir John Harvey Jones tried to dramatically change things, but he failed.

As I prepare this article for “Around Town”, the world-wide motor industry is in turmoil with dramatic falls in sales. At Malvern there is still a year’s wait for a Morgan.

Following great interest from Prince Eric, who owns Banque Baring Brothers Sturdza in Geneva, thoughts about the Aeromax began to develop. Barings is the oldest merchant bank in the City of London and Morgan is the oldest privately owned car maker in the world. Morgan has wings on its badge and so does the bank. What a pedigree.
