The New, the Fast and the Luxurious... The Motoring Guide!
Don Booker MBE likes the friendly Suzuki Alto – and its lovely smile

By Don Booker

There has not been much in the motor industry for makers to smile about, but the frontal looks of Suzuki’s new Alto reflects a happy face.

There is every reason for the famous Japanese maker to smile, for from producing looms in 1909 it is celebrating its centenary by building a record number of cars in India. They designed a motorcycle engine and found great success with the Swift model which has sold three million cars in three years.

The new Alto is an all-city that enjoys a fling in the country. It is practical and will have an emotion appeal because its aerodynamics are good. That front is rounded, curvy with clear eyes – the headlights – and a smooth mouth – the grille.

There is a sleekly raked windscreen which along with side curves at the back combine to make a sporting wedge profile. That’s why customers are expected to come from the 18 to 30 age group and most likely to be female.

Suzuki has a loyal customer base, and many may down size a bit to enjoy this cute little car.
