Dining Out Restaurant Review...
Authentic Indian cuisine

with Sam McQueen

The glowing windows of the Curry Mahal was a welcome sight on a rain-lashed evening. Situated in the thriving village of Dodworth, the restaurant was bright and warm. A genuine friendliness greets you as you walk in and are conducted to your table.

The menu is comprehensive, almost overwhelming, and as neither of us were curry aficionados, Maria and I placed ourselves in the capable hands of the restaurant manager, Ash. He navigated us skilfully through the different curry strengths and accompanying dishes.

Our starters were the reliable onion bajis, which are chopped onions and gram flour fried with spices, and chicken chatt cooked with onions and green peppers in a pastry case. We shared these and they satisfied our less than experienced palettes. The spices were mild and provided a mouth-watering introduction to the courses which were to follow.

Curry Mahal has been in existence for 9 years and is proving to be a draw for people wanting fine food, a cheerful atmosphere and quality service. It caters for parties, has air-conditioning and has also been recently refurbished and extended.
