CragRats Brasserie
 We certainly picked the right day for our visit to CragRats Brasserie.
The sun was shining, and despite a slight breeze, the day was one of those perfect early summer days when at long last we could enjoy some warm sunshine.
Getting out of the car at CragRats, our anticipation of good food was put on hold for a few minutes while we drank on the patio enjoying the stunning views over the Holme Valley.
Situated above the valley on the A616 Sheffield Road, halfway between Jackson Bridge and Hepworth, the restaurant is ideally placed to enjoy the spectacular view. Perfect on a sunny day for those diners who opt to sit in the outdoor dining area and appreciate the beautiful scenery in this part of the world.
However our stomachs were telling us that lunchtime was due so it was forward to the restaurant to order.

CragRats Brasserie has been open for three years and is housed in the same building that many will remember as The Chase Restaurant. However the similarity ends there as the CragRats team have used their design expertise and eye for detail to fully revamp this building and turn it into a stunning contemporary restaurant, ideal for all occasions.
Turning our attention to the food, we perused the bar restaurant menu, served Tuesday to Saturday 12noon to 9pm and toyed with the idea of delicious starters including chicken liver, prune and brandy pate with Melba toast and onion jam or basil and lemon chargrilled marinated vegetables, served with fresh salad, red pepper and pesto dressing etc.
However, as two plates of delicious sandwiches passed our table, we simply couldn’t resist the choice of contemporary sandwich fillings. Between us we chose Thai green chicken on ciabatta bread, served with a tomato, coriander and lime chutney and mozzarella cheese and the vegetarian option of roasted flat mushrooms with tallegio, oven roasted tomatoes and pesto.
