The Old Barn

By Geraldine May

Someone had recommended The Old Barn at Shepley so we decided to give it a try.

It was a late summer’s evening when we arrived just before 7pm to find this restaurant warm and welcoming. Whoever converted this building did a very good job and with the lights on and tables set, the restaurant certainly looks very inviting and will be particularly welcoming and cosy on a chilly winter’s evening.

Although we were the first to arrive for evening dinner,
The Old Barn quickly filled up and it was obvious from the friendly banter and cheery atmosphere that many of those eating were regulars.

Situated at the rear of The Farmer’s Boy pub in Marsh Lane, Shepley, The Old Barn is run by Rob Sykes and his sister Karen. A busy chap, Rob is also the pub landlord as well as keeping a watchful eye on the 48-seater restaurant.

Combining both the pub and restaurant seems to work well for Rob and Karen who opened The Old Barn in June 2005. Food is available in the pub as well.
